Like a House on Fire

A lot's happened since I started this blog. Most recently, a house fire (on February 28 of this year).

Everyone's fine: me, my parents, our two cats and our dog, Mila. It went something like this.

I was playing Skyrim and took a break to cook some potstickers. Next thing I knew, the stove was alight! I didn't panic (thanks, autistic brain) and my first thought was: This day just keeps getting better.

Ever have one of those moments when something just clicks? I did while I was trying to decide which things I wanted to keep. Three words popped into my mind: "This isn't home."

How could it be? This was the site of all my worst memories. The house where I lived in fear, the yard where a nail went through my foot; the bed where I was violated by a demonic being.

They can rebuild on the site; they can insist that everything's better than before. It'll never be true. Like Edward in Fullmetal Alchemist, I'm determined to go forward, not back.
